Date Posted: Tuesday April 4 2017
In its inaugural year, this award, was intended to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday by inspiring students to make their communities a better place. WRDSB Secondary School Clubs were encouraged to propose an idea related to promoting human rights issues in their school and/or community.
The District 24 OSSTF Human Rights Committee will be granting one award to Forest Heights teacher, Sarah Stockford, and the school's student organizer of Girls Night In, Farah Wahib, to assist them in their activity which empowers young women in their diverse school population.
(The District 24 HRC exists to inform and educate all members of human rights legislation, and issues in Canada, Ontario, their local community, and within their workplace; and to research and direct members to relevant resources that can assist them in achieving equity and inclusion.)
